Because I feel, oddly, like I could really use a list of good things. 1) Mike got me past the last segment of Kumbhanda killing me in unimaginable ways chasing me around the processing plant. I can resume DDS2! I have a wonderful boyfriend. ♥ 2) People are making characters for my Scion game! This promises to be hilarious as all hell. 3) It is the weekend. 4) spreadnparanoia is coming over to have Thai food and make a Scion character. There may also be herod_the_nut and a_leprechaun later! 5) Tomorrow, it is rumoured there will be a BBQ, and also there is a party. 6) If I get too hot tomorrow, I can go splash around in the pool. 7) I have been reading excellent stories for a while now. 8) I am progressing rapidly in Crimson Gem Saga.9) FFEX prompts are awesome. 10) It is summer. The weather is glorious and I am happy. Tags: happy things Feeling: happy

So, first_seventhe showed up Friday evening, and arrived at my apartment at 5:10. I got home at 5:20 and we hared off immediately to the Lands East to pick up a wrenbow. We swung by Chipotle on the way back, and then promptly sprawled around the common room in various states of dishabille. Lost Odyssey was put on for visual entertainment. Then a yi_sen pounced on me in GoogleTalk and demanded videocam, so we signed on and all chatted happily with yi_sen and celeloriel. At this point I was, uh, rather drunk (because between the three of us we drank two bottles of wine and three bottles of raspberry lambic - which I might point out is 10% alc by volume beer - and that was just Friday night) and I'm sure I amused them rather greatly. We all chatted for quite a while, and then we signed off to have more Lost Odyssey. Around 1 am we called it quits and went to bed. We woke up at 9 am on Saturday and made breakfast (scrambled eggs with onion, potatoes O'Brien, and bacon, plus of course the obligatory tea) and then curled right back up with Lost Odyssey. I did some laundry while we finished the plot, and then Sev started up her Christmas gift, which was Persona 3 FES. Around 5 we condescended to don our pants, and headed out to the mall. We were originally going to meet Mike for supper at Cheesecake Factory, but his muse ate him and he bowed out. So instead we hit up Crabtree & Evelyn, who have discontinued my favourite scent and I am NOT A HAPPY CAT (but I found another one that will suffice so I will not pout overly much) and then had our dinner. We got cheesecake to go, and came back, hitting the liquor store on the way in search of more raspberry lambic. They didn't have the brand I like, so we tried another. I was not impressed - it tasted like beer-and-raspberries, instead of "omg RASPBERRY hi!" But that's a whole different matter. Sev then commenced Final Fantasy XII, and I fiddled with my laptop some. I tried to write some porn, but it just wasn't happening, so instead I finished the last six puzzles on Professor Layton and the Curious Village. We then watched Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, which I have to say is just not as awesome as the rest of Joss Whedon's work in general, I'm sorry. It's reasonably amusing, but I was left rather "meh" overall. I discarded the now-complete Layton in favour of Final Fantasy II on the PSP, and cleared it. (I hooked up the PSP to the TV when Sev quit FF12 in favour of writing, and she described Pandaemonium as "Castle Bling Pimp-Cup." I mean, it's not entirely inaccurate. PINK AND SPARKLY.) Somehow we ended up staying up until 4 am (oh my God I've not done that in ages) and crashed out. We all woke up around 10:30, where there was breakfast and tea, and then sadly my Sev took her leave and took the Natalie with her to take to the train station. Mike then cross-country skied down and I went to pick him up at the end of the bike trail. We hung out for the afternoon and spent some time watching the various championships (I am SO DISAPPOINTED that there is not to be a Birdbrain Bowl this year! Baltimore, you've let me down. Sad kitty cries.) Mike then tried out his new shiny, that being Dead Rising. I fiddled about with Final Fantasy II a bit more, playing with the optional dungeons (hey, Soul of Rebirth? FUCK YOU IN THE EYE. At least the save-anywhere feature on the PSP makes that not HORRIFYINGLY CRIPPLING anymore.) I made shrimp scampi for dinner, and then we curled up and cuddled for a while, and then I drove Mike back to his car. Only to find that the parking lot where he had stashed it, in one of the parks, closed at sundown. So he had a parking ticket and we had to do some shenanigans to get his car out, which were fortunately successful. But still. Parking tickets, woez. Now I am back home and contemplating the having of tea, and also fiddling about on the Internet. Seriously, though--an amazing weekend. My friends are awesome. Because mithrigil tagged me. 1. Post about something that made you happy today, even if it’s just a small thing. 2. Do this every day for a week without fail.
3. Tag 8 of your friends to do the same. We generally don't do that tagging thing around here; my suggestion, instead, is this. If you happen to be going through a rough patch, do this meme. I find it's surprisingly helpful to stop and do this when I'm having a bad day. Things that have made me happy today: -Seeing friends dork about things that make them happy -I woke up with snuggles and kisses this morning -Good news coming to friends -I have Ghirardelli double-chocolate hot cocoa -My grocery shopping for next week is complete, meaning that I do not have to so much as poke my nose out of my apartment door from 5:30 pm tomorrow to 8:30 am Monday if I do not desire to (Cat's vet appointment excepted) -I got to talk to both celeloriel and first_seventhe today, and Cel approved an idea for my Demon game. -It is snuggly and warm inside my apartment, and I have a wide range of delicious yet simple dinner options, and there can be FF8 or Puzzle Quest -My cat is being very adorable. -Persona 4 in FIVE DAYS OMG Yay! Happy things make Rina smile. Thanks, Mith, this was a great pick-me-up. :) Tags: happy things, meme Feeling: content Hearing: Lonestar - Smile

I hate PMS and its ability to cause me to eat everything that is not both nailed down AND on fire. ...on the other hand, "everything that is not both nailed down AND on fire" includes strawberry cheesecake Ben & Jerry's, so I can't complain overmuch, I guess. Except about how my botch of my self-control roll led to me eating half a pint of it :( I ventured forth to pick up a package from UPS today. Since i was out his way, I ended up at Mike's for dinner. He cooked me fajitas. ...And then walked with me to Walgreen's so I could get ibuprofen so I could not die. Best boyfriend ever. ♥ We watched a few episodes of Babylon 5 (oh, Deathwalker, you make my day, creepy bitch) and there was lots of snuggling. Also I have a new shiny. And he ordered Mass Effect today for the 360, so that we can play it together. And by "we can play it together," I pretty much mean that it will end up a lot like Dirge of Cerberus, i.e. he hits buttons and I watch pretty plot. p.s. o hai, zatyrn/ tyrel and oberndorf, happy birthday, loves. Wow, my apartment is very quiet right now. So first_seventhe arrived Friday evening around 5:30. I retrieved her from O'Hare, and then we got a wrenbow. We made dinner (chicken baked with garlic salt, lemon pepper, cheese, and bacon, topped with sauteed mushrooms, plus stuffing and green beans.) Drinks were had (of course), and then there was lots of FF12. When Sev arrived, she'd just done the events in Jahara. By the time she left today, she was levelling up before Sochen. Awesome sauce. (We had to stop and level a few times, sadly.) We stayed up late Friday, and then crashed out sometime around 2. We got up on Saturday and Sev made us some fabulous nachos for lunch. We kicked around playing various video games - I set wrenbow up with Neverwinter Nights on my PC, Sev had the PS2 for FF12, and I was advancing mightily in FF Tactics Advance (where, annoyingly, most of the missions are now predicated on killing x many enemies or clearing y many battles, instead of just days. Kitty disapproves.) Around 7 we started getting ourselves tarted up for dinner out. Wren had a really pretty red sparkly skirt, Sev had a gorgeous cheery yellow skirt, and I went for glitzy black with my really sexy shoes of the four-inch heels. We ventured forth to Olive Garden, where the three of us split a really fabulous mango martini, plus Sev had a glass of red wine and Wren and I split a bottle of Asti Spumanti. After stuffing ourselves to death with food and dessert, we made our way safely back here. Immediately the fancy clothes were exchanged for tank tops and a distinct lack of pants, and we curled back up with our video games. We crashed out around 2 am again, I think, and then woke up this morning. Wren headed off to go hiking with intorporeal, and Sev and I snuggled on the couch and played more Final Fantasy. Around 3 I drove her to the airport. Now my apartment has just me and the kitty. Oh, and also I woke up to a really cute email this morning from Mike, in response to the rather drunk voice mail I left him last night (his phone was apparently off due to him being in Canada and not wanting to pay the roaming charges, which is eminently reasonable.) It made me happy. I miss him. Looking forward to Tuesday when he is back! I stopped on the way home to do my grocery shopping, since I'll be busy tomorrow picking up my last few things from the old apartment. Now I have a very bright bouquet of flowers on the table, because I saw them and they made me smile. So I'm going to go clean up my kitchen, which is really in not that bad shape, thanks primarily to the efforts of wrenbow and first_seventhe, and then either there will be more of FFTA or else I will get to playing some Persona 3. So, apparently there are tons of interesting things to do in Chicago! Who knew. Certainly not I, who have lived here for 8 years and have yet to go to: -Museum of Science and Industry -Field Museum -Art Institute -Shedd Aquarium -Adler Planetarium -Chicago Botanic Garden what, I fail at Chicago. am making lots of fun plans though. I like shiny things! Today was a good day. I was productive at work. I finished reading Changeling. I started designing my Mage chron - yeah, the one I've been wanting to run for like 4 years but didn't for a variety of reasons. I'm really happy with what I've got and am poking at how I'm going to houserule some things (Fuck you, Avatar Storm, I deny your existence and banish you to another reality that is not mine. MY goddamn World of Darkness, bitch!) Let's see, what else did I do today? Ah, right. I was craving some seafood, and so demanded company in the direction of one of the seafood restaurants around here, and had tasty, tasty snow crab legs. Mmmmm. Seafood. And then there was ice cream and Buffy (almost done season 6!) and life is good and happy. Tomorrow is Friday! And then there is the weekend. I am way way way excited for Saturday. so much awesome hi OMG. Also! Iron Man this weekend! Squeal! Life is indeed good. Pirate Party was made of win and awesome. I was, by far, more drunk than I've been since the last New Year's I got truly slammed, by which I mean New Year's Eve 2005. I profess extreme gratitude to Claire and Kevin for being sober enough to watch out for me. Also to Jeremy, who is awesome. I haven't been drunk in a really long time and it felt good to cut loose a bit among friends who won't care what I do for the most part. It was really, really nice. Although the unrated version of the pirate porn movie was pretty disturbing. I...I'm sorry, but visual porn just does not do it for me. I do not comprehend how that is intended in ANY POSSIBLE WAY to be arousing. Just...ick. no. Surprisingly, I didn't even drink that much; my tolerance has died completely. I had a mix of orange Curacao and creme de cacao to start (roughly a shot to a shot and a half worth of each), which was fantastic (and even better iced.) Then a Smirnoff Ice (because I can't stand beer) and then I had a Melzer Special (triple sec, sour mix, coconut rum, regular rum, blue curacao, and Sierra Mist), which is probably what did me in although it didn't taste half as strong as the average Melzer Special. Then there was a giant cuddlepile on the couch, and also a discussion of how I should definitely hang out and/or game with Kevin and spreadnparanoia more. Also a whole lot of people dropped their pants. It was awesome. Overall, bobbler wins at Pirate Parties :D I approve 110%. I was still drunk enough that my head was spinning when we left, and Melzer fortunately was sober enough to give us a ride home. Now I've had two glasses of water and I didn't even have to correct much more of my typing in this entry than I normally do when sober, so that's a plus. I think it's time for me to go to bed. As soon as I get the cat to chill out. Tags: a distinct lack of pants, can't remember my clever tags, coherence? fuck your coherence, drinking, drunk, happy things, omg squee, party, pirate party, talk like a pirate day Feeling: drunk

Yay! So, I came home Wednesday night to spend some time with parents for my birthday. Thursday was a pretty awesome day. My mom and I went out shopping at Barnes and Noble, where I bought her the first three book of Kushiel's Legacy. She then went to get her hair done, and I got a pedicure with gorgeous shiny dark-red polish. We wandered the mall, where I got a new lipstick, and then met up with Dad for a really tasty seafood dinner. Friday was quiet; Mom and I kicked around for most of the day not doing much of anything really, and then yi_sen and celeloriel came by and picked me up to take me to their place for the evening. Cel and I stayed up until 4 am discussing fic while she rapid-read most of the fic I've written in the last several months, and we discussed the things that I did well and poorly in each. We also had a lot of music discussion. Then there was sleeping, and then challah bread French toast plus FF12 piled in a heap with pillows and blankets in front of the TV. ♥ We came back to my parents' place for a birthday dinner also involving rabbitbenrin, my parents of course, my Uncle Robbie and my cousin Bobby plus his girlfriend, and Mady and her daughter Karie. (Mady babysat me when I was very young, and I still remember how Karie's room was decorated when I was four: she had a white bedspread covered in very colourful hearts in all the shades of the rainbow.) I has acquired shinies: a gift card from BenBen, money from Uncle Robbie, and from Mom and Dad....a Wii! I don't have the actual physical Wii yet. I have a family tradition: A picture of the item I am to get. XD But is squeeshinies! Yesyes. Overall, a fantastic weekend. stargemini, I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to see you, but Mom was being very clingy and most reluctant to let me out of her sight for even long enough to go spend some time with Cel and Yi Sen, so I couldn't really get away. In gaming news, I progress rapidly through FF3DS. I have gotten most of the way through the Eureka dungeon, insofar as I've gotten the Masamune and the MoonRing Blade. Need to advance on to the shops so I can have Arise and other useful spells and equipment. Then I finish Eureka and spend a while levelling in the Crystal Tower (with trips back to the Invincible to rest/restore) and then, hopefully, I beat the game. And on that note, I am *really* tired, and I'm going to sleep! Tags: birthday, family, final fantasy iii, friends, good times, happy things Feeling: happy
